Environmental Non-Government Organizations
Canada's ENGO community is composed of a wide variety of organizations of varying sizes, objectives, and methods of advancing social change. The simplified depiction of environmental organizations conveyed in the popular media can obscure the many constructive opportunities to work with this committed community of Albertans. This presentation will overview the composition of the environmental community, and describe generally their key characteristics; discuss how environmental advocacy has changed in recent years; and discuss some the emerging new types of 'activists for the environment'.
