Satya Das

Satya Das is an experienced opinion leader, a noted policy advisor, and most recently, the author of the best selling The Best Country - Why Canada Will Lead the Future. With more than 25 years of public policy experience in his previous career as an award winning editorialist and national columnist, Das has substantial expertise in economic policy, social policy and foreign policy. A pioneering commentator on Canadian identity and values, he wrote about Canadian pluralism in the 2003 Supreme Court Law Review. As a principal in Cambridge Strategies Inc., he has advised at the most senior levels of the federal, Alberta and municipal governments on governance issues, policy development, strategic planning and economic policy. His volunteer work has brought him a number of major awards for the advancement of human rights and cultural diversity.







The Honourable Doug Horner
Deputy Premier

Doug Horner was elected to his third term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Spruce Grove-Sturgeon-St. Albert on March 3, 2008, and currently serves as Deputy Premier, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology, and Minister Liaison to the Canadian Forces. Before being elected to the Alberta Legislature, Mr. Horner had extensive experience in the private sector, including banking in southern Alberta and a sound understanding of the value-added sector of agriculture. He was integral in the start-up and operations of his family's barley and oat processing mill. Later he became responsible for international marketing and sales of specialty grains for ConAgra out of its Nebraska office. After three years he moved back to Canada and established a trading company for agrifoods and agrifeeds for domestic and international markets.






Dan McFadyen
Chairman, ERCB

Dan McFadyen was appointed as the Chairman of the ERCB in February 2008. Mr. McFadyen is a professional engineer with more than two decades of experience in public service and the energy sector. He joined Alberta Energy as Deputy Minister in January 2006. Previous positions held by Mr. McFadyen include: Vice-President, Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy, Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA); Deputy Minister of Energy in Nova Scotia; Chair and Acting President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Research Council; and Assistant Deputy Minister in several key energy-related positions in the Saskatchewan public service.







Morris Seiferling
Stewardship Commissioner, Land Use Secretariat

Morris Seiferling is the Stewardship Commissioner of the Land Use Secretariat leading the development and implementation of the Land-use Framework for the Alberta Government.

Morris has been working in the Alberta public service for 30 years in the land and natural resource areas. He has managed both public lands and the Community Pasture Program in Central Alberta. Morris was the regional director for Alberta Agriculture in the Peace Region, and Director of Technical Services Division responsible for the environmental, engineering, livestock and on farm water initiatives for the department.

Morris received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Agriculture (agronomy major) from the University of Alberta in 1979 and received his Masters of Business Administration Degree from Athabasca University in 2002.
